Helping Women Period
Helping Women Period will be back this month for a second chance at taking home a Soup Grant! Helping Women Period is a non-profit organization that partners with various charities around Lansing to provide pads and tampons for low income and homeless women. The founders started Helping Women Period after reading an article about the lack of access to pads and tampons for homeless women and the realization that this basic need was not provided for by governmental assistance programs. They strongly believe that every woman deserves to not worry about her period and how it will affect her daily life. Child and Family Charities: T.R.U.E.
Joining us for the first time this week will be Child and Family Charities’ T.R.U.E. program! The LGBTQ Support Group, or T.R.U.E. (Teens Respecting and Understanding Each Other) is a program from Gateway, that helps lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth between the ages of 14 and 18 in the Lansing area. Recognizing that LGBTQ youth are often at higher risk for homelessness, family conflict, and bullying than their peers, T.R.U.E. seeks to provide a safe space that is free from bullying, homophobia, biphobia, & transphobia for LGBTQ youth and allies ages 14-18.
