Look who’s presenting on November 21st

Have you heard about the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing or Lansing Makers Network? We’ll have reps from both talking to us about what they do and a recent project that they could use our help with.

Make sure to come out on November 21st at Grace Lutheran Church to learn more and support these fantastic groups!

About our presenters

Hot soup on October 17!

Fall is here and Terry’s bringing back the hot soup to warm your bones. Then our presenters will talk about the good things they’re doing in Lansing and warm your soul!

This month we’ll see presentations from the Lansing Mobile Farmers Market and Refuge Recovery Lansing.

Join us for this heartwarming event on October 17th at Grace Lutheran Church!

About our presenters

Addiction is ravaging our country. Those affected need help, not punishment. Refuge Recovery Lansing is here for just that purpose: to help. They provide people with tools for personal empowerment and a community in which they are supported while they grow. They are empowering an underserved portion of the community.

The Lansing Mobile Farmers Market is a project of NorthWest Initiative. The mobile market brings fresh fruits and vegetables into Lansing neighborhoods where the majority of residents must travel long distances to purchase fresh produce within their price range. In order to make produce more affordable, they accept EBT and Senior Market Fresh Coupons in addition to cash and card.

Spaghetti for September!

Where did the summer even go?? We’re still in denial so we’re going one more month without soup. Instead, we’ll be offering up delicious spaghetti! Oh, and it’s our birthday so if you brought a dessert to share we might just love you forever. 😉

This month we’ll see presentations from Sistrum Lansing Women’s Chorus and the MSU SciComm Science-Art Exhibition.

Join us for our birthday celebration on September 19th at Grace Lutheran Church!

About our presenters

Sistrum Lansing Women’s Chorus has been a creative force in the Lansing area for 33 years. The women who make up Sistrum’s membership come from all over the Lansing area. They sing together for community involvement, racial justice, women’s rights, LGBT visibility and rights, and social justice.

The Michigan State University Science Communication student organization (MSU SciComm) is hosting a science-art exhibition October 19th, 2019 at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). The exhibit will feature artwork created by teams of scientists and artists from MSU, Lansing, and East Lansing. It is intended to offer more insight into science at MSU that the public may not be aware of.

August 15th is not a usual SoupGrant!

We’re shaking things up this month by replacing our usual warm soups with a fresh, crisp salad bar and we’re asking guests to bring toppings to share. That’s not the only difference, either!

On Thursday, we’ll be at The Fledge — a radically inclusive ideation space on a mission to create opportunities to pursue happiness — and we’re going to try to get two presenters from Ele’s Place to present in mock-competition with each other for the SoupGrant.

Think that’s silly? Well if you donate $10 or more to our event, you can join the comedy show that follows at 8:00!

Our presenter

Ele’s Place supports grieving children so they may continue their lives with hope and confidence. Staff and volunteers provide long-term, age-appropriate, weekly peer support groups at no charge, for families coping with the death of a family member or friend.

They also educate the community about children’s grief issues, acts as a resource and referral agency, and provides support and training for school, medical, and other professionals in contact with the bereaved.

Event details

The Fledge
1300 Eureka St.

Lansing, Michigan 48912

We’re starting the night with a salad bar with the basics and asking guests to bring additional toppings/dressings. Oh, and don’t forget a bowl and spoon fork!

After salad, we’ll hear from our presenters. We’re hoping to get two presenters from Ele’s Place to talk about projects in a mock-competition. We’ll put the projects to a vote and Ele’s Place will be awarded everything we raise.

Please bring a donation to this experimental SoupGrant! All proceeds go to Ele’s Place and if you donate $10 or more you can also attend the comedy show that follows our event.

The You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me Comedy Event starts at 8:00 at The Fledge. You can learn more about this local comedy show on their Facebook event.

This month — December 20th to be exact — we’re celebrating our second annual Holiday Grant. Bring along some friends and family and tell them what’s special about this month at SoupGrant!

Potluck and Prizes

Instead of our usual soup buffet, we are inviting everyone to participate in a macaroni and dessert potluck. Bring your favorite macaroni and cheese or dessert to share and who knows, you may win a prize! We’re giving a little something to the most delicious macaroni dish, most delicious dessert, and the most unique across both dishes.

Bring a Stocking Stuffer

Instead of presenters, we’ll have stockings for everyone to stuff. One each for:
